Purchasing
the lamp only and replacing the bad lamp in your existing housing is a
very cost effective way that can save you up to hundreds of dollars.
The lamp installation is simple and takes only minutes to complete. The
plastic housing surrounding
the lamp is completely reusable. Picture quality and brightness will
not be affected by reusing the housing. We can safely say that because
we have thoroughly tested this
on every lamp we give advice on. If you do purchase the complete lamp
in housing you should have your old lamp housing recycled because it
contains mercury. It is also against many state laws to throw this
product in the trash. It is highly recommended when you purchase a
lamp replacement to buy a factory original OEM
(original equipment manufacturer) lamp. The two manufacturers of lamps
that TV companies use are Osram and Philips. Some
companies may debate
that Philips lamps are better than Osram or vice versa, but that is
only opinion (or sales tactics) as there are no statistics proving
one is better than the other. We have extensively tested (over 25,000
testing hours) each brand and neither
performs better or lasts longer than the other. Purchasing a lamp
of
any other brand is an "OEM compatible", generic, or aftermarket lamp
(DNGO, APO). This is not advised because these lamps have a fraction
of the lamp life and can possibly damage your TV.
Detailed written instructions and a video of the lamp installation are for provided below showing how to replace the lamp in the 915P049020 housing.
***Important
Please Read:You must clean the
dust and dirt from the vents and screens on your lamp housing before installing
the new lamp. When installing the new
lamp, ensure the lamp wires/leads do not touch or lay on the lamp.Use the leads that come with your new lamp
and not the old leads on your original housing.Failure to follow these steps
will cause poor ventilation and premature failure of the lamp which will void
your warranty.
1)
Please use the included latex-free glove when handling the
lamp.Failure to use the glove during
handling may reduce the life of the lamp. The TV must be unplugged from the outlet before removal of the
lamp.It must stay unplugged until you
are completely finished.
Use your
TV’s user manual to help you find and access your lamp housing. If you do not have the TV user manual, you
can download and/or view it on the TV manufacturer’s website.
2)There are
two plastic tabs to push down on each side of the housing to allow you to pull
the housing apart in two pieces. Remove the lamp by first removing the leads by
unscrewing the two screws with metal washers that hold the lamp connector to
the housing.DO NOT use the old leads
that came with your housing. There are
four metal tabs with screws holding the lamp in place that need to be
removed. The lamp will now be able to
come free of the housing.Note how the
lamp is seated in the housing and put the replacement in the same exact way.
3)Install the
four metal tabs and screws to hold the lamp in place. These metal tabs are flexible and will
bend when screwing them down as this is normal.Reinstall the lamp connector by seating it in
the previous place and secure it with the two washers and screws. The post on the top of the lamp is very fragile. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN AND USE CARE OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR. Companies will not warranty installation damage. IMPORTANT:Use the new leads that are
attached to your new lamp and the old set that came with your housing.Arrange the lamp wires so that they do not
touch the lamp.Allowing the wires to
sit on the lamp can cause premature lamp failure.Remove any dust/dirt off of the metal mesh
that surrounds the lamp housing.Failure
to do so can cause poor ventilation and premature lamp failure.Damage to the lamp through installation will
void your warranty.Reinstall the
plastic cover over the lamp locking two tabs in place.
4)After
reinstalling your lamp into the TV, completely reassemble the TV.All lamp doors or anything else removed to
remove the lamp from the TV must be replaced before plugging the TV back in and
turning on.Failure to do so will not
allow the TV to turn on properly. Please
reference your TV’s user manual to reset the lamp timer.
